IFT Membership
As a member of IFT you will be a part of a community of scientific scholars, innovators, visionaries, and achievers all passionately dedicated to the advancement of the science of food and food technology.
IFT membership is critical to ensuring that the science of food profession is strong, relevant, and influential.
By joining IFT you’re making a difference in your community and making a personal investment to the future of food science and technology regionally, nationally, and globally. As an IFT member, you have access to a breadth of programs, events, resources, networking opportunities, and services all created with the goal of helping you to become a stronger food technologist or professional and better positioned to become a vital contributor to the future of food.
NYIFT Membership
The New York Section and Central New Jersey Sub-Section of the Institute of Food Technologists (NYIFT) offers members unique opportunities to be actively involved in the food technology community in the New York and New Jersey area of the United States. Members of the industry and academia interact and form connections in the network through the various activities organized.
Beyond what IFT can provide, you will meet colleagues in the local area, expand your professional network, and be exposed to new technologies and trends in the food industry. You will also have access to our newsletter filled with interesting facts about the global and local food industry.

About
We are closely affiliated with the Food Science and Human Nutrition Departments of both Rutgers University and Montclair State University. Most students who are members of the Section also participate in the activities organized by the Student Association of IFT (IFTSA).
Through these affiliations, student members have the opportunity to participate in competitions such as the IFT Product Development Competition and Regional College Bowls, to meet members of the industry, to apply for academic scholarships and to obtain travel funds to attend the IFT Annual Expo.
There are five different membership types for the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), and that includes Section membership that is based on your membership address. The New York Section membership also includes membership in our Central New Jersey Sub-section.
However, it is possible to add the NYIFT section to your membership if you are located outside the region, during your initial membership application or annual membership renewal. NYIFT membership is only $25 for Regular Members, $10 for Students and free to all Emeritus (retired) IFT members. Members receive discounts at many NYIFT/NJIFT events.
