About the Topic:

Have you ever wondered how or why Gatorade was invented?

Did you know that for more than three decades, GSSI has tested thousands of amateur, elite, and professional athletes on the field and in the laboratory?

Dr. Lindsay Baker is a Director at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) and a PepsiCo R&D Fellow. Since joining GSSI in 2007, Dr. Baker’s primary role has been designing and conducting sports nutrition and hydration studies for the GSSI research program. With the transition of GSSI’s Clinical Research Hub from Barrington, IL to Valhalla, NY in 2022, Dr. Baker took on the GSSI site lead role and oversees the new facility and the expanded team in New York. Dr. Baker came to GSSI from The Pennsylvania State University where she earned a Ph.D. in Kinesiology. While at Penn State, she conducted hydration and thermoregulation research. She has over 50 publications in sports hydration and nutrition, including peer-reviewed manuscripts, invited reviews and book chapters.  She is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and is on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Korey Stringer Institute.
